About Luis

Luis is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theology for the 2026-2027 academic year at AMBS. In this role, he teaches both Spanish-language courses for the Spanish-language Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies (GCTS-Spanish) program and other master ‘s-level courses at AMBS. He also advises Spanish-language students and assists with recruitment and relationship-building for the GCTS-Spanish program. 

Luis teaches and researches in theology, mission, and global Anabaptism. He is currently a PhD Candidate in Theology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he is researching North American Anabaptist and US Latino/a Christologies. He also teaches at the Hispanic Anabaptist Biblical Seminary, MCUSA’s online undergraduate seminary for Latino/a leaders. He graduated from AMBS in May 2021 with a Master of Divinity
with a major in Theological Studies: History, Theology and Ethics, and received an Award for Excellence in Theological Studies from AMBS’s History, Theology and Ethics Department. From 2022 to 2025, Luis was the half-time Director of Practical Leadership Training at AMBS, and prior to studying at AMBS, he was involved in pastoral ministry and theological education in Chile and Ecuador. Luis works remotely from his home in
Portland, Oregon.
