Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies (Spanish)

AMBS offers a specialized Spanish-language version of the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies — the first one of its kind to be available through a seminary of Mennonite Church USA and Mennonite Church Canada!

The AMBS curriculum is designed to provide professionals, congregational leaders and bivocational pastors with a foundation in theological and biblical study, spiritual enrichment, and fuller integration of theological studies into their work and ministry. You can complete the fully online program entirely from your current location.

Program design

In the 21-credit-hour Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies (Spanish) program, you’ll complete seven courses (three credit hours each) in two and a half years, with one course each semester and one in the summer.

Each course is offered fully online. Some courses may have periodic synchronous class sessions via videoconference.

Note: The certificate does not meet the gainful employment criteria set by the U.S. Department of Education.

Required courses

Each course counts as three credit hours.

  • Leadership Education in Anabaptist Perspective (LEAP) (orientation course)
  • Global Anabaptist-Mennonite History and Theology
  • The Hebrew Bible and Its Contexts
  • God’s Shalom and the Church’s Witness
  • The New Testament and Its Contexts
  • Reading Cultural Contexts
  • Anabaptist Approaches to Scripture
Expectations for time spent

For a three-credit-hour course, students are expected to spend a minimum of 10 hours each week in activities related to the course, for a total of 140 hours for the duration of the course. This includes time spent reading, writing, posting work online and completing assignments.
