Library & Campus Center

The new AMBS library and campus center joins the Chapel of the Sermon on the Mount as hubs of campus activity. Just as the chapel represents worship, the library represents academic study and the campus center will encourage hospitality, collaboration and conversation. All of these are essential components of the seminary's mission--not only for students, but also for pastors, church leaders and guests.

The new facility provides settings for several AMBS priorities

  • Fostering a diverse learning community with an Anabaptist vision.
  • Hospitality to welcome scholars--both students and guests--in a comfortable and convenient place for research, conversation, reflection and writing.
  • Commitment to providing church leaders with unparalleled opportunities for inspiration, wisdom and information; maintaining the finest Mennonite theological library collection in the world.
  • Integration of new technologies and traditional materials to support scholarship in the church, drawing on the rich resources of current and past generations.
  • Stewardship of God's creation with a commitment to constructing a "green building," reflected in choices for design, construction and sustainable operation.

Commitment to care for creation

AMBS has registered this project with the U.S. Green Building Council and is working toward LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). See more about the features that will make this a "green building."

The dedication service is set for 2:30 p.m. on April 26. This will include dedication of the new building (which includes the library, bookstore and gallery) and the renovated campus center (including the lounge and Church Leadership Center offices).
