Weekend Learning Events
Each year during the third weekend in September all Journey students, mentors, conference ministers and faculty presenters from AMBS gather for a two-day Weekend Learning Event. This fall gathering is usually held at one of several retreat centers in Michiana. In plenary sessions student’s strengths and gifts are identified. In break-out sessions, students develop personal mission statements. Spiritual disciplines are modeled, taught and practiced. Gift identification and development work is done. Training is provided for mentors.
In early March all Journey students, mentors, conference ministers and faculty presenters from AMBS gather for a second two-day Weekend Learning Event. This spring gathering is held at AMBS. Spiritual disciplines and a topic related to leadership in a Mennonite/Anabaptist perspective are presented. Plenary sessions provide the opportunity for mentors and students to hear together input on a topic of importance to the developing church leader. Break-out sessions will allow students to explore themes unique to each group and to network with each other.
Participation in these annual events is a requisite for graduation from the Journey program.
