Position: Missional Leadership Development faculty
Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary is seeking a proven missional church leader who can inspire, teach and mentor future leaders for ministry from an Anabaptist perspective in missional congregations and organizations. We expect that the person hired for this position will help AMBS think creatively about how our programs and institutional patterns change if God’s mission is at the center of ministerial leadership development. Capacities for engagement and collaboration with teaching faculty colleagues on the character and practice of missional leadership are essential.
We are looking for a teacher/mentor who can help form future missional leaders in direct ways. We envision this position to be deeply involved with students learning missional theology through the practices of ministry in congregational, community, national and international contexts. We anticipate that the person filling this appointment will spend significant time developing relationships with congregational, community and global resources.
Desired teaching areas
- integration of missional understandings at the personal, congregational, community, denominational and international dimensions of the church

- development of students’ missional identity as congregational and/or community leaders
- missional spirituality
- training and supervising local ministerial supervisors of contextual education students
Desired qualities include capacity to:
- work with developing ministerial character of students as missional leaders against the backdrop of the church that is local, national, and international
- develop a contextual ministry program in collaboration with denominational representatives and local community resources
- use life experience as a resource, possessing experience as a missional leader and claiming a theological vision that includes evangelism, peacemaking, justice, healing, and reconciliation as central to God’s mission
- mentor students with wisdom, patience, and openness
- find, use, create, and/or coordinate resource networks as sites for student interns
- engage the AMBS faculty as the school embraces its missional purpose and identity
