Certificate in Theological Studies
This general certificate allows students to select courses for a special interest or ministry. People who seek basic theological training to enhance their participation in their congregation or profession or who desire opportunities for spiritual formation can develop a plan of study within this certificate.
At least nine hours must be taken on campus in Elkhart and may include weekend offerings or short-term courses during interterm and summer. Fifteen hours must be taken from AMBS offerings (including online and extension site courses), and no more than 12 credit hours may be transferred in from other accredited seminaries.
The following courses are foundational courses, recommended but not required for students pursuing the Certificate in Theological Studies:
- Reading the Bible
- Thinking Ethically
- Theology of the Church
- Mission and Peace: The Church’s Ministry in the World
- Beginning Hebrew: Ruth
or Beginning Greek: 1 John
or Introduction to Bible Study Tools Anabaptist History and Theology.
